The Flooring Contractors Association (FCICA) will host a webinar on slab assessment on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. EST.

"Slab Assessment Toolkit: Checklists, Tests and Procedures for Identifying Potential Bond Breakers in Old Concrete Slabs" will be presented by Mac Krauss and Alex Rogers, senior substrate sleuths at AC•Tech Allied Construction Technologies.

The American Institute of Architects-approved session will explore what makes old concrete such a challenging substrate for successful commercial flooring installations and what professionals can do to avoid costly delay, litigation and outright failures in their final flooring systems.

This interactive session will detail the specific types of bond-breaker problems flooring installers confront when they arrive on the deck; the checklists, tests, and best practices they can use to mitigate these problems; and the steps the design-build team, specifying architects and project estimators can take to empower flooring mechanics with slab analysis data. A case will be made for not making critical testing data a discretionary item subject to last-minute budget squabbles in the project trailer.

The registration deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 3 p.m. EST.
