According to show officials, the carpet sector will be the largest sector at Domotex asia/Chinafloor (DACF), taking place March 21 through 23.
Five dedicated halls will play host to everything from hand-made carpets, wall-to-wall carpets, carpet tiles, woven and machine-tufted carpets, mats, carpet raw materials and the latest carpet technology.
Currently, more than 71% of the carpet dedicated exhibiting space has been booked with more than 400 Chinese and international carpet and carpet technology manufacturers applying for participation, according to organizers.
The carpet sector follows the general trend of the show this year with an increasing demand for participation from brands outside of China. For the first time, a national pavilion hosting carpet manufacturers from the U.K. is planned by the Overseas Fair Division of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the U.K. Trade and Investment Department. The U.K. pavilion will join other national pavilions from Belgium, Germany, The Netherlands and the U.S., traditionally hosted in the hall dedicated to the international machine made carpet manufacturers.
Geert Vanden Bossche, marketing director of Belgium’s Balta Group, spoke with the show organizer about the importance of China and Asian markets and their potential, especially in the commercial market. “It is part of our strategy to develop new markets. We have recently opened a new sales office in Singapore for our commercial carpet tiles to develop the Asia-Pacific region. Countries like Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines are also becoming more important,” he said. He also explained why Balta’s participation at DACF is an important part of its strategy to develop the Asia-Pacific market. “It is important for us to attend DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR every year. In a short period of time we can meet with our existing and new potential customers. The show attracts trade visitors not only from China but from the whole Far-East region.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to outsource the most up-to-date masterpieces and designs from the hand-made carpet world in the hall dedicated to hand-made carpet manufacturers. This hall will also host the Carpet InnovAction area with displays of the latest products and innovations from the carpet industry.
