Tile and Stone expert Donato Pompo will review some of the common failures found in today's world of larger and thinner tiles, use of floor warming systems and sound attenuation systems, use of membranes,  use of modern thin-set adhesives, and particularly in exterior and interior wet applications.   He will then point out how these problems can be avoided by following industry standards, and how we can make sure our installers can easily learn the industry standards so they can avoid these very costly failures.

Donato Pompo is the founder of Ceramic Tile and Stone Consultants, Inc. (CTaSC) and the University of Ceramic Tile and Stone (UofCTS).  Donato was an installer in the union, a distributor and importer for 17 years, a sales manager for a manufacturer of installation products. He is the current CTDA Education committee chairman.  Donato is a past chairman of the Ceramic Tile Institute of America (CTIOA) Technical Committee.  He is a member and participant of the ANSI, ASTM, ISO, MIA, MMSA, NTCA, and TCNA technical committees who develop the installation standards for the ceramic tile and stone industry.  Donato’s company specializes in offering services for forensic tile, stone and terrazzo installation failure investigations as an expert witness, they prepare architectural installation specifications, provide quality control and testing services, and provides education courses to the ceramic tile and stone industry.
