Members of Carpet One and Mohawk gather with some of the most severely wounded American veterans, first responders and officials of the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in support of Building for America’s Bravest.

In honor of the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on Sept. 11, 2001, Carpet One Floor & Home associates and members will be participating in the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation Annual T2T 5K Run & Walk in New York City this fall.

The Tunnel to Towers foundation supports first responders and military through the Building for America’s Bravest organization—an organization that builds Smart Homes for injured veterans.

Carpet One members and Mohawk Industries have partnered to furnish and install the flooring for the homes built by Building for America’s Bravest.

“Participating in the T2T 5K Run & Walk to raise funds for Building for America’s Bravest is a great opportunity to bring our entire company and all of our associates closer together,” said Eric Demaree, president of Carpet One. In preparation for the 5K, Carpet One associates will be training together and working to reach their goal of raising $30,000 to help build these Smart Homes. Donations can be made online through the team’s official Crowdrise page for the event.

“We are overwhelmed by Carpet One Floor & Home’s support of our organization and our cause,” said Frank Siller, chairman of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Also participating in the 5K are many of the injured veterans who have had a Smart Home built for them.
