The International Standards and Training Alliance (INSTALL) will expand to Texas with an open house for floor covering installers and contractors at the North Texas Training Center in Arlington on Aug. 31.

While the center has hosted carpentry training programs for some time, this marks the first time floor covering installation training will be offered in the facility or anywhere in Texas, according to INSTALL.

“Texas is the most vibrant market in the country and it’s booming with projects and available work force,” said John McGrath, executive director of INSTALL. “We want to get those workers trained and certified so that they can deliver quality commercial flooring installations to the Texas market.”

According to McGrath, for companies and organizations targeting the commercial sector, be it for sales, membership or market share, Texas is the top prize. Its immense growth brings opportunity but also challenges. Skilled labor is an ever-growing demand, while nationally, workers continue to be in short supply.

The open house will take place at the North Texas Training Center, 1901 Susan Drive, Arlington, Texas 10:30 a.m. It will include lunch, tour of the training facility, an overview of the INSTALL program as well as a call-to-action to local contractors and installers to partner in bringing the INSTALL program to the Texas floor covering community.

Participating in the event are representatives from every facet of the floor covering industry: INSTALL staff and instructors, contractors and installers, as well as representatives from Ardex, Armstrong, Gerflor, HB Fuller, HP Schönox, Halex, Mohawk, nora, Shaw and Tarkett/Johnsonite.
