MP Global Products' new Sound Buffer acoustic underlayment is made from 100% virgin latex rubber and designed for use under hardwood, engineered wood, laminate and luxury vinyl flooring, according to the company.

Sound Buffer is engineered to suppress impact sound and floor to ceiling noise, and it has other excellent physical properties, as well. These include a 1.2mm thickness, a density of 25 lb/ft3, and a compression set of 16%—a carefully engineered combination that helps minimize impressions and indentations that can occur with luxury vinyl flooring. It also has a thermal resistance of .205, and is anti-microbial treated, according to the company.

Sound Buffer also carries Green Label Plus Certification for Low-Emitting Materials from the Carpet and Rug Institute and can contribute to earning LEED Credit EQ 4.3 (low-emitting materials), LEED Credit MRc5.1-5.2 for Regional Content 20=30% and LEED Credit IEQp3 Minimum Acoustical Performance.
