Bona received a North Carolina Department of Labor Silver Award for safety, which highlights companies throughout the state that achieve and maintain good safety records.

“For almost 100 years, safety has been, and continues to be, core to our company culture at Bona," said Richard Goering, vice president of sales and operations, North American and Latin America, Bona. "From our processes to our products, our mission is to maintain a safe work environment. As we look forward to our future, we will continue to hold safety as an imperative part of our business.”

To qualify for an annual safety award, a company must have no fatalities during the calendar year at the site or location for which the award was given and have maintained an incidence rate at least 50% below the average for its particular industry group.

The North Carolina Department of Labor’s Safety Awards Program is designed to stimulate interest in accident prevention and to promote safety in the workplace by providing an incentive to employers and employees to maintain a safe and healthful workplace. In operation since 1946, the program now extends to more than 5,000 firms and about 3,000 awards are presented annually.
