It took more than a year, but the Resilient Floor Covering Institute (RFCI) succeeded in its fight to have New York state recognize that vinyl floor products may be used in green buildings eligible for a green tax credit. The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the RFCI reached the agreement at the end of May, one week before hearings were set to begin in Albany County Supreme Court about the department’s Green Building Tax Credit regulations.
This is proof positive of the value of our industry being able to unite under the leadership of a strong association to protect our interests. The RFCI is to be congratulated for taking the lead in this important matter.
