Conference Board Index of Leading Economic Indicators rises in May
NEW YORK -- The Conference Board reported that the Composite Index of Leading Economic Indicators rose by 0.4 percent in May, after a 0.3 percent decline in April and a 0.1 percent increase in March.
"Consumption has consistently fueled the recovery through the first half of the year," said Conference Board Economist Ken Goldstein. "The increase in the leading indicators now offers hope that economic performance may improve in the second half of the year.
