The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) said it has added adhesives to its Green Label Plus Indoor Air Quality Testing Program. To receive Green Label Plus certification, adhesives must undergo a 14-day testing process through an independent laboratory, and be subject to future tests targeted at ascertaining the total levels of volatile organic compounds in the product. Previously, the Green Label Plus program was only available for carpets.

"The Green Label Plus label on carpets, and now adhesives, assures end-users that these products meet stringent requirements for low chemical emissions," noted Werner Braun, president of CRI.
