Citing increased energy and raw materials costs, several prominent manufacturers - including Armstrong, Congoleum, Domco, Mannington, and Tarkett Residential - have announced price hikes for their hard-surface flooring products.

Armstrong will initiate an average 8 percent price increase on its vinyl composition tile commercial products, and 3 to 5 percent increases on its commercial and residential vinyl sheet products.

Congoleum will enact a 5 to 8 percent price increase on its commercial tile products, 6 percent on its commercial sheet products, 3 to 5 percent on its DIY tile products, and 5 percent on sundry items.

Domco will increase prices 2 to 4 percent on its resilient flooring products.

Mannington will increase prices 7 to 10 percent on its vinyl composition tile products, 5 percent on its commercial and residential vinyl products, and 3 to 5 percent on its hardwood products.

Tarkett Residential announced plans to institute a 3 to 7 percent price increase on its resilient products.

The Armstrong, Congoleum and Tarkett Residential increases are effective immediately. Domco's and Mannington's will be effective Nov. 15. In addition, Congoleum's latest introduction, Xclusive resilient flooring featuring Scotchgard Protector, will increase in price by 5 percent effective Jan. 1, 2005.
