Shaw Industries has acquired Dixie Group's north Georgia operations, making it the largest supplier of carpet to the RV and manufactured/modular housing industries.

Phil Barlow, former president of the portion of Dixie bought by Shaw, has been named vice president of Specialty Markets, Shaw's umbrella name for its newly expanded RV and manufactured/modular housing functions. Dixie's well-known "Carriage Carpets" brand will continue to be marketed under that label, according to Barlow.

Shaw's purchase also introduced some entirely new products and markets to Shaw, including needlebond and indoor-outdoor carpet, trade show flooring and acoustical commercial wall covering.
