Werner H. Braun, president of The Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) recently reiterated the organization’s vision for members of the trade press in New York. Braun stated that CRI’s commitment to help its members become as prosperous as possible will continue. He also said that the goal would be to identify the hurdles facing members and then help members to overcome them. The three primary hurdles to overcome, Braun said, are customer satisfaction, environmental/health safety and government regulations.

CRI announced that it would undertake a public relations campaign to combat the growing perception that the carpet industry is not involved in health-related concerns. The campaign will stress the benefits of carpet as a prestigious, luxurious product as well as the need for proper maintenance.
