Svend Hovmand,president and general manager ofCrossville Ceramics,was presented with the Jerry Fisher Memorial CTDA Service to the Industry Award by theCeramic Tile Distributors Association.The award is given annually to the person who has demonstrated outstanding service, through innovation and dedication, to the ceramic tile industry. Hovmand implemented the concept of Total Quality Management at Crossville, and is recognized by CTDA for helping to promulgate the management concept throughout the ceramic tile industry.

Donna Heffernan has been named specification specialist for Johnsonite’s mid-Atlantic region. Based in Virginia, Heffernan will work with Johnsonite Regional Business Manager Jim Della Franco and distributors to increase specifications of the company’s Geneses Collection and continue to build the Johnsonite brand.

Joe Walker has been appointed to the newly created position of commercial resilient national sales manager for Mannington Commercial. Walker is responsible for leading and coordinating the efforts of the Commercial Business Unit’s resilient sales representatives.

Bostik’s newly restructured flooring group has recast the roles of various company veterans. Robert McNamara, most recently Bostik’s national accounts manager, has been promoted to marketing manager of the Flooring Group. Paul Gallagher, formerly the eastern regional sales manager, has taken on the position of Bostik’s national sales manager. Brian Kelley, who was the company’s ceramic territory manager/midwest is now the eastern regional sales manager. Rick Tredwell continues in his position as western regional sales manager for both ceramic tile and hardwood products.

Dennis Smith has been hired as Laufen Ceramic’s new western regional sales manager. Smith now represents Laufen’s complete line of domestically manufactured and imported ceramic tile, wall, and countertop tile products. He is charged with servicing the company’s distribution network in the Nevada, California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Wyoming regions.

Warren Orikasa of Maui Carpet & Drapery Inc. has been named Small Business Person of the Year by the county of Maui, HI. Orikasa’s dream of small business ownership began on a shoestring budget in 1993. His desire to offer customers the best and latest products along with quality service has resulted in a new retail location, employment of island residents, and annual revenues that have exceeded $1 million.

Greg Nord was recently named western divisional sales manager of Universal Flooring. Based in Los Angeles, Nord will handle the western United States sales territory.
