The focus on environmental issues was among the themes discussed at the Carpet and Rug Institute’s annual West Coast meeting. During his presentation CRI president Werner Braun noted that inadequate maintenance can significantly shorten the life of a carpet, resulting in extra transportation and disposal costs. He also noted that such an unfortunate experience may prompt a client to opt for hard surface when it comes time to replacing the flooring. Among those on hand were Judy Pike (left) and Kimberly Matsoukas of Bentley Prince Street as well as Andre Villasenor, from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
