Spurred by growth, Ark Floors moves
Ark Floors, a hardwood flooring
maker based in Irwindale, Calif., is moving. Ark, the U.S. arm of Chinese wood
manufacturer A & W [Shanghai] Woods Co., has relocated to a newly
constructed 70,000 sq. ft. facility in El Monte, Calif. The new facility, which
will allow the company to warehouse inventory and ship products at four times
its current capacity, places the company about 8 miles southwest of their
former site.
According to Ira Lefkowitz, Ark’s CEO, the move is a sign of “great growth for the company.” Ark also plans to expand warehousing to an East Coast site later this year.
“On a global level, we’ve got a very strong factory behind us with tremendous resources,” he said. “By expanding our operations here in the United States we can increase our domestic services tremendously and build our brand nationwide.”
Along with increased warehousing and shipping capacity, the site features an in-house sample department and additional office space for general operations and customer service. The year-old company recently unveiled four exotic and domestic hardwood collections during Surfaces 2008.
