In a special reception at Chicago’s McCormick Place, where Coverings 2009 is being held, Paige Rein of HGTV’s "Hidden Potential" awarded the Spectrum Award, First Prize to Motawi Tileworks. Motawi’s product designer Colleen Crawley led the project that received this years award for Residential Excellence, an Arts and Crafts home remodel encompassing a kitchen, foyer, sun room and fireplace surround that were united by the use of Motawi tile.

Decorative relief tiles featuring Motawi’s animal series and a floral relief border combine with field tiles create a “backsplash that is a bridge between the original character of the home and the updated appliances and cabinetry,” the company says.
