Gary Verhey

The Floor Installation Association of North America (FIANA) Board of Directors has announced Gary Verhey will take over as president/ceo on Jan. 1, 2010, succeeding founding officer and current ceo/president Jim Lee, who is retiring.

“In this industry over the last number of years, a great deal of change and evolution has taken place. It’s time for a change and some fresh ideas,” said Lee, a 53-year veteran of the industry. “I’ve known Gary since our days with Roberts Consolidated back in the mid ‘60s. He built a very successful company in Inland Northwest [Distributing] and brings a lot of experience to FIANA.”

Verhey, a longtime industry veteran, was instrumental in building business for Spokane, Wash.-based Inland Northwest, his full-line flooring products and installation supplies distributorship. He sold the business to T&A Supply in 2006.

FIANA said Lee and Verhey will work closely together during the transition, and the takeover in 2010.
