Mohawk Industries said it will raise prices an average of 6 percent for select solid hardwood flooring and accessories, beginning July 5.

"The continued escalation of lumber and transportation prices has forced Mohawk Industries to revisit market pricing on solid wood flooring and accessories.  U.S. economic conditions over the last two years have affected the lumber industry severely. The recession has forced many saw mills to reduce capacity or exit the industry entirely, thereby reducing lumber supply in the market. The reduced supply has resulted in escalating hardwood lumber prices since the beginning of the year," the company said.
