Design Extra LLC, a St. Louis-based interior design firm, recently created a designer dress constructed of Crossville mosaics and mesh tile backing for UnRavel, a fashion event hosted by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Mid America Chapter’s St. Louis City Center.

UnRavel invites area designers to invent and model wearable fashion using only materials typically reserved for interior design. The styles are then displayed at a prominent exhibit in downtown St. Louis for public viewing (on display now at 600 Washington Ave).

With the help of ISC Surface‘s Julie Zobel, Design Extra selected a sleek, vibrant color palette from Crossville's Glass Blox collection for the bodice and layered skirt of the one-of-a-kind, flapper-inspired dress. The mosaic tile mesh backing served as connective material and makeshift crinoline to add shape and ‘fluff’ to the style, giving a feminine and soft touch to the overall look and feel. "The result is head-turning, wearable art in true Crossville tile style," according to Crossville.
