Bonsal has developed ProPannel, a product the company characterizes as the lightest weight backerboard in the industry. A 1/2-inch, three-by-five-foot sheet of ProPannel weighs only 8 lbs. The backerboard is 100% waterproof and can be cut with a utility knife without edge chipping, Bonsal says.

ProPannel, a dust-free product that produces no carcinogens, is recommend for wall installations and light commercial floor installations, the company says.
