Surfaces 2004 gears up for all-new Installation Showcase

For the first time, Surfaces and the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), in cooperation with the Certified Floorcovering Installers Association (CFI), are offering targeted, how-to sessions on common installation problems, live on the show floor. This all-new Installation Showcase brings retailers and installers face-to-face with industry experts for interactive demonstrations.

The event will kick off with Jim Walker, CEO of CFI, demonstrating "Beautiful Patterned Carpet & Upholstery on Stairs," 11 a.m. to noon Jan. 28. On the same day, Ed Metcalf of Laticrete and Dave Gobis, executive director of CTEF, will showcase "Tile & Stone Installation," 2 to 3 p.m.

On Jan. 29, George Donnelly of George Donnelly Testing & Inspections will give a how-to on "Moisture-Sealers-Alkalinity," 10 to 11 a.m. Niall Barrett of Festool and Wayne Johnston of Pergo will field inquiries on "Laminate Design - Fiber Optics," 1 to 2 p.m. Concluding that day's demonstrations will be Steve Marley of Cal Coast Hardwood Flooring, explaining "Hardwood - Sales & Installation," 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Showcase will open its final day 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 30, with Don Styka of Johnsonite and Terry Fitzpatrick of Mannington Mills demonstrating "Resilient - Rubber Flooring." The Installation Showcase will conclude 1 to 2 p.m. with Marley installing "Ceramic & Hardwood: A Beautiful Flooring Combination."
