Floor Trends is pleased to announce Tanja Kern as the magazine’s new editor.

Kern joins the team with a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has 16 years of media experience—with many of those years covering the flooring industry.

David Madonia, BNP Media group publisher, stated, “We welcome Tanja to the team and look forward to expanding the coverage Floor Trends is known for, which has made it the magazine of choice for retailers, designers and contractors.”

Kern said she is excited about her new role. “Joining the Floor Trends team grants me the opportunity to work with a group of talented editors who are passionate about what they do and strive every day to create the best possible publication for the flooring industry. Stepping into a role like this comes with respect for the team members who brought us here and a lot of excitement; there are so many opportunities to grow our audience and approach content in new ways. The move also brings my career full circle. My first job out of grad school was at Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, which BNP Media later acquired in 2007.”

She also shared her passion for the flooring industry. “It’s the perfect blend of technology, design and innovation. The members of the flooring industry are a creative and determined bunch, and I love that it’s easy to make new friends and learn new things at every turn.”

Kern concluded, “I love to hear from our readers. Please drop me a line at kernt@bnpmedia.com or stop me at a trade show to let me know how we’re doing. And don’t forget to follow Floor Trends on Twitter (@Floortrendsmag) and ‘like’ us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on industry news.”
