Seven Islands Land Company, a family-owned company managing forests and timber in Maine since 1840, has announced its acquisition of MooseWood premium hardwood flooring from Ashland-based Kelly Lumber Sales, Inc.

"This continues our investment in northern Maine and the people of Aroostook County," says John McNulty, President of Seven Island Land Company. "This brings a value-added component to our timber resources and supports jobs in the heart of Maine's northern forest."

Seven Islands Land Company intends to keep MooseWood’s current workforce of 16 employees, while investing in operations and strengthening distribution of the premium hardwood flooring.

Lumber used in the production of MooseWood premium hardwood flooring is harvested from the 172-year-old Pingree family ownership managed by Seven Islands Land Company and milled by Maine Woods Company in Portage Lake, Maine, a hardwood sawmill owned and operated by Seven Islands.

MooseWood flooring will continue to provide an exclusive FSC certified line of finished and unfinished maple, birch and oak flooring.

"We believe in the spirit and work ethic of the Aroostook workforce,” adds McNulty. “We're proud of our investment in a Maine product, a Maine process, and in Maine people – from start to finish.”

MooseWood Premium Hardwood Flooring was established in 2004. MooseWood is available in more than three thousand locations across the Northeastern U.S. and is a member of the National Wood Flooring Association. Industry veterans, Tim Kelly and Richard Poirier, have been retained to maintain the continuity of the Moosewood family of products.
