A series of new shower components from Schluter-Systems speeds the process of completely waterproofing a shower area prior to tile installation.

All Schluter pre-formed shower benches and curbs are now constructed with waterproof and lightweight Kerdi-Board building panels, so additional waterproofing of these elements is no longer required, according to the company. All seams are completely sealed so these load-bearing components can be quickly and easily installed using thin-set mortar, with a strip of waterproof membrane to be applied where the elements meet floors and walls. Kerdi-Board panels are dimensionally stable, making the material an ideal substrate for tile.

Schluter’s previous introduction of sloped polystyrene shower trays dramatically changed how tiled showers are built by eliminating the time-consuming construction of mud bed floors for many projects. Now, all Schluter shower trays will come with a pre-cut sheet of Kerdi membrane to waterproof the shower floor. According to the company, the inclusion of this pre-cut sheet eliminates the need for the installer to measure and cut one or more pieces for the shower floor. It provides a perfect fit, every time and there are no overlapping seams on the floor so installation is faster and easier.

Schluter is also launching two new sizes of shower trays so it is easier to select a tray to match the dimensions of the shower floor.
