New York, N.Y. -- Obeetee has been actively promoting its new Obeetee Express quick-ship program through industry design shows and at two designer showhouses.

October saw the launch of the Obeetee Express quick-ship program with a collection of 17 designs, each created by a notable designer or architect, to benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, as part of its Specify with Care program. The quick-ship program offers hand-tufted carpets with a two-week lead time for strike-offs after rendering approval and a six-to-eight-week production time for most sizes. There are hundreds of designs from which to choose on the new Obeetee Express website, including tribal, "deconstructed" and updated traditional designs. Customers can also submit their own designs.

The Obeetee Express program made its first showing at Boutique Design New York (BDNY) at the Jacob K. Javits Center in November, followed by Dubai Design week.

When it came to designing the Grand Foyer for New York City's Holiday House Design Show House, November 15 to December 6, Interior designer Bonnie Steves of BJS-Assoc. Interior Design, selected two Obeetee carpets in the express program. The entire room was inspired by the idea of going from light to dark and how we are never clearly in the dark.

"The Obeetee Express carpets worked perfectly with the theme and were a play in light and dark achieved through varying shades of gray,” said Steves. “The quality is wonderful and the ease of ordering and quick delivery are ideal."

Patrick J. Hamilton, one of the designers from the DIFFA collection, chose an Obeetee hand-knotted wool and silk Mehrab "Faith" rug for his design of a study in the Southern Style Now Showhouse in Savannah, Ga., presented by Traditional Home magazine November 10 to December 7.

"Obeetee's Faith carpet was the bridge between all the colors and textures in the room's textiles, and the perfect soft-but-earthy look for the study,” Hamilton said. “I love that it gave a sense of age to the room, but in a totally fresh way."

Obeetee Express offers 194 stocked colors in 100% New Zealand wool. The website allows customers to select from these hues to develop their own unique carpet colorations. The site also lets them view the rugs in various room settings and print or email samples to clients. Other hues from Obeetee's bank of more than 4,000 colors and additional fibers like silk, viscose, nylon and cotton are possible with a customized lead time.
