Salem, N.J. -- Today’s budding young artist may become the gifted flooring designer of tomorrow. Mannington Mills created the “Art is Cool” award program to recognize the talent of Salem County high school students and encourage them to pursue their artistic endeavors. Members of Mannington’s design and management team gathered with 40 student artists, their families and teachers to announce this year’s winners at Mannington’s corporate headquarters.

“Flooring is a fashion business,“ said Joe Amato, vice president of residential styling at Mannington. “We understand how vital artistic talent is to the success of both Mannington and the flooring industry as a whole. For the past 16 years, the ‘Art is Cool’ program has been an important part of our commitment to local education and the arts. We are grateful to all of the artists for sharing their talent with us, and to the teachers who make it all possible.”

Each year, Mannington’s design team select a first place and second place winner from each grade level in each of of Salem County’s five high schools. First place award winners receive a $100 American Express gift card, and second place winners receive a $50 gift card. The Best in Show winner receives an additional $100 gift card.
