Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Fifty CarpetsPlus COLORTILE, Carpetland USA, and Floorco locations from around the country partnered with local animal shelters and humane societies in the second annual Shop for the Paws Animal Welfare and Rescue Awareness Event this summer. Donations from all locations totaled over $25,000 and were made to local animal shelters and pet-related charities.

The top seven stores with the most donations were: Carpetland USA, Davenport, Iowa; Red Mountain Flooring, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Floor Craft, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Gainesville CarpetsPlus, Gainesville, Fla.; Carpetland USA, Roanoke, Va.; The Carpet Collection, Lockport, N.Y.; and Bob & Pete’s Floors, Canton, Ohio.

In addition to raising funds via sales, many locations also collected dog and cat food, bedding, toys, and additional monetary donations. Some locations also invited their charity to bring pets for adoption as well as having other pet-related businesses show their goods and services to event attendees.

“This was our second year doing this event and I believe it was even more successful than last year,” said Pat Douds of Bob & Pete’s Floors. “Besides our local pet shelter, the real winners were the dogs and cats that were adopted at out event. We offered 25% off materials in honor of 25 years in business if the customer donated a bag of Stark County Pound-specified dog food. It was also nice to see our business neighbors provide items and donations to Stark County Pound, the organization we chose as our pet charity.”
