St. Louis -- Cole Boyer, a high school senior from Tomball High School in Tomball, Texas, has been named the recipient of the 2018 NWFA NERF Wood Studies Scholarship. This nonrenewable scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is awarded to a current high school senior who will study forestry, or forestry related sciences, in an effort to advance and improve forestry practices.
“I’ve had a passion for the outdoors for as long as I can remember," said Boyer. "As I got older, I became very interested in forestry as a career. After an internship in the industry, I knew forestry was the career path that I wanted to pursue."
Boyer will attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. starting this fall to pursue that goal.
The NWFA Education & Research Foundation (NERF) was established to provide industry research and educate future generations of wood flooring professionals. Thanks to the generosity of its members, NWFA has conducted such research as the Life Cycle Analysis of Wood Flooring and awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships since its creation.
