Jon Thierfeld recently announced his retirement after a 25-year tenure with Leggett & Platt.

Thierfeld started his career in floor covering at his father’s company, Eastern Carpet & Linoleum in East Hartford, Conn., in 1971. After learning the installation side of the business, Thierfeld eventually moved to the warehouse where he was responsible for installations and all warehousing operations. In 1988, after taking over operations of the company, the tough decision was made to close down and start a new venture in the wholesale side of floor covering.

At Western Carpet, Thierfeld ran a territory. He eventually participated in the day-to-day operations of the Connecticut office and warehouse. He was working for NRF Distributors when an opportunity came along to move into manufacturing and represent Leggett & Platt in their expanding carpet cushion division in 1994. Thierfeld embraced this new side of the industry and found a home. 25 years later Thierfeld is moving on to new adventures with his wife, children and grandchildren.
