We all know that the pandemic played a role in residential design trends. Di Anna Borders, vice president of design at Armstrong, explains the audience they are now trying to embrace.

1. Millennials

Millennials are buying homes, choosing finishes and spending dollars, Borders said. This age group has been brought up with design and their aesthetic is much more sophisticated than previous generations.

2. Coordinating Collections

Homeowners today are creating styled vignettes for spaces and choosing bolder choices for smaller rooms, such as bathrooms and laundry rooms. These design choices create demand for coordinating surfaces that tie rooms together visually.

3. Sheet Vinyl

It’s making a comeback. Sheet vinyl today is offering decorative looks and formats that weren’t possible, including herringbone and deco shapes.
