INSTALL and Tarkett have joined forces to advance and drive industry standards for excellence in carpet floor covering installation.

Tarkett, one of INSTALL’s first Alliance Partners, is integrating INSTALL’s installation carpet certification standards into its master specifications. “Tarkett has partnered with INSTALL on several initiatives over the years and this is a true testament to the brand’s commitment to improving installation standards,” said John T. McGrath Jr., executive director of INSTALL.

Tarkett’s new specification language will take effect immediately and reads as follows:

“Installation Qualification: Contractors for floor covering installation should be experienced in managing commercial flooring projects and provide professional installers, qualified to install the various flooring materials specified. An installer is ‘qualified’ if trained, or certified by Tarkett or a certified INSTALL (International Standards & Training Alliance) carpet installer.”

Don Styka, director of field services at Tarkett, said, “INSTALL is a pioneer in the floorcovering industry. Its apprenticeship program, continuing education and curriculum are the most comprehensive in the industry. That is why Tarkett chose to implement carpet certification standard language into our master specification. The use of qualified installers directly impacts our customers in a positive way—ensuring product longevity, eliminating costly and frustrating claims, and meeting our customer’s expectations."
