This year marks the 23rd Annual George Buckhardt Memorial Fundraiser, which offers financial assistance to flooring installers and their families who has fallen on hard times. In honor of Tony and Michael Buckhardt’s father, the golf outing will take place on September 3, 2022, at the Riverbend Golf Course in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Buckhardt family anticipates more than 100 people to attend this year’s event. Held on Labor Day weekend, the golf fundraiser offers multiple sponsorship options. Tony indicated that they have secured five corporate sponsorships this year at $2,000 each. Additionally, there will be prizes, a BBQ dinner included in the entry fee and a raffle.

Each year approximately $20,000-25,000 is donated with a portion of the money being raised at the annual International Certified Flooring Installers Convention, during the 50/50 raffle. This year the convention took place August 2-4 in Orlando, Florida, and the raffle brought in $2,600, according to Tony. To date, the fund has raised over $400,000.

Following George’s death, the fundraiser was started by Marie Odle, George’s wife, and his two sons as a tribute to George and his legacy. A committee made up of CFI members reviews all requests for assistance, and money is donated based on the committee’s selection. This year the committee has selected three families to help.

Currently, donations are mailed to Tony Buckhardt at: 1709 Production Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46808. For those in need of assistance, call Tony at 260-410-0802.
