The International Certified Flooring Installers (CFI) association is hosting residential and commercial carpet certifications at the new Natural Fiber Installer Certification training facility in Jasper, Georgia, March 23 to 24, 2023.

Residential Carpet I (R-I) and Residential Carpet II (R-II) certifications are running in conjunction with Commercial Carpet I (C-I) and Commercial Carpet II (C-II) across both days.

Residential Carpet I (R-I) Certification

Participants must have two years' installation experience prior to class. 

Topics covered: 

• Seaming new products
• Power stretching and wall-trimming techniques
• Pattern matching: correcting bow, skew and pattern elongation
• Stair upholstery without the use of staples

Residential Carpet II (R-II) Certification

Participants must have CFI R-I Certification prior to class. 

Topics covered: 

• Introduction to woven products and seaming techniques
• Borders, insets and feature stripes
• Advanced seaming techniques

Commercial Carpet I (C-I) Certification

Participants must have two years' installation experience prior to class. 

Topics covered: 

• Moisture testing
• Subfloor requirements
• Direct glue seam sealing techniques
• Pattern matching and identification

Commercial Carpet II (C-II) Certification

Participants must have CFI C-I Certification prior to class. 

Topics covered: 

• Double stick techniques and methods
• Large scale commercial job coordination
• Advanced seaming techniques
