Ceramic tile manufacturer Vitra Tiles, part of the Eczacıbaşı Group, has flipped the switch on a massive new solar power facility in Aksaray, Turkey, positioning the company to generate more than half of its domestic electricity needs from renewable sources. The 30 MWe/36 MWp solar power plant, which came online in February 2025, builds on the company's green energy portfolio that began with a smaller 3.5 MW rooftop installation at its Bozüyük facility in 2023.

The newly operational Aksaray facility features 65,520 PV modules, each with a 550 Wp capacity. It is designed to generate electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 19,700 households. The plant is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 37,190 tons per year.

“We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint," said VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu. "We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”

Construction on the project began in April 2024, and it includes installing PV modules, cabling, inverters, transformers, and power transmission lines. The company emphasized that the Aksaray plant delivers environmental sustainability benefits and economic advantages while positioning VitrA Tiles as an industry leader in green manufacturing.
