Italian ceramic tile manufacturer Marazzi has joined forces with Reply, an international technology consulting firm specializing in digital solutions and AI implementation, and ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel to showcase "A new AI generation Marble" during Milan Design Week.
This collaborative project features innovative ceramic surfaces designed using generative AI algorithms inspired by biomimetic principles, creating patterns that merge natural organic qualities with digital precision. These large stoneware slabs, in development since 2023, will be installed at Reply's new headquarters in Turin, Italy, at the former Caserma De Sonnaz.
Mauro Vandini, CEO of Marazzi and president of Mohawk Global Ceramic, highlighted how the technology enables more efficient and resource-conscious production while elevating industry standards. Meanwhile, Reply CEO Tatiana Rizzante emphasized that the project aligns with the company's mission to transform established processes through digital skills and AI.
Patricia Viel, CEO of ACPV Architects, described the collaboration as an example of how AI can amplify human creativity while redefining production processes. The team overcame the technical challenge of reproducing marble designs on large architectural surfaces up to 3.2 meters in height without optical distortion by combining denoising and super-resolution algorithms with architectural expertise.
