LX Hausys America Inc. introduced quartz surfaces featuring reduced silica content and edge-to-edge patterning technology during an industry event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium yesterday, addressing two critical challenges facing the engineered stone industry: workplace safety and aesthetic continuity.
The company's new Taj Duna design combines NeoQ technology – which reduces silica content while incorporating up to 90% recycled materials – with Thru Vein technology that carries surface patterns consistently through slab edges. This dual-technology approach responds to increasing regulatory scrutiny over silica dust exposure while solving a long-standing aesthetic issue where patterns typically stop at slab edges.
"The combination addresses both the health concerns that have been top-of-mind for fabricators and the design limitations that have frustrated architects," said Martha Wakelin, LX Hausys's creative director, during the presentation to approximately 250 industry professionals.
Taj Duna becomes only the second Viatera color to feature both TrueView (for enhanced visual depth) and Thru Vein technologies, joining Crystallo Glace in offering this combination.
Cloud Ridge, an updated color in the Viatera Suprema Collection, was also displayed. The design features an off-white base with brown veining and will enter production in June at the company's Adairsville, Georgia facility. It will be available in 63-by-130-inch slabs in both 2- and 3-centimeter thicknesses.
Two new solid surface colors were added to the HIMACS Calacatta Collection: Calacatta Albero and Calacatta Costa. These represent the first Calacatta designs to be manufactured at LX Hausys's Georgia facility and the first in the collection to feature both wide and thin veining patterns. Both are available in 30-by-145-inch dimensions with a half-inch thickness.
LX Hausys has operated its U.S. manufacturing facility in Adairsville, Georgia, since 2010. The operation has expanded to three production lines covering approximately 293,000 square feet and employs more than 160 workers. The company also maintains a distribution center nearby and its North American headquarters in Alpharetta, Georgia.
