Schluter-Systems announced the release of North America's first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for an uncoupling membrane. Developed specifically for the company's popular Ditra membrane, this groundbreaking documentation establishes a new benchmark for environmental transparency in the tile installation sector.
The product-specific EPD represents a major advancement in Schluter's commitment to sustainable building practices and provides verified environmental impact data that supports architects, designers, and contractors in meeting increasingly stringent green building requirements.
"These product-specific EPDs are the result of extensive collaboration across our organization and supply chain," said Kali Pharand, sustainability and standards manager at Schluter. "We're proud to lead the way with the first uncoupling membrane EPD in North America and look forward to expanding our library of verified product data."
This pioneering release is part of Schluter's comprehensive sustainability initiative, which includes an expanded suite of environmental documentation across its extensive product lines. The company has published Health Product Declarations (HPDs), Red List Free certifications for select setting materials and membranes, and Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) testing reports – all critical resources for projects pursuing certifications like LEED and WELL Building Standard.
To enhance accessibility of these valuable resources, Schluter has established a strategic partnership with Ecomedes, a leading platform for sustainability documentation. This collaboration ensures that verified product information is readily available to support informed design and construction decisions that prioritize environmental responsibility.
With a product line encompassing over 6,000 items – including tile trims, uncoupling membranes, waterproof building panels, shower systems, and thin-set mortars – Schluter-Systems has built its reputation on delivering solutions that ensure tile installation integrity and durability. The company continues to balance state-of-the-art technology with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in installations that are both highly functional and visually appealing.
The introduction of North America's first uncoupling membrane EPD further solidifies Schluter's position as an industry leader committed to innovation, transparency, and environmental stewardship in the tile installation sector.
