CHICAGO— Chelsea Group recently began working with Honeywell to develop indoor air quality-related commercial applications for Honeywell’s Triad Fiber technology.

Triad is a patented shaped fiber technology manufactured with cross sections consisting of channels that can hold biocidal agents within air filtration media. These cross sections enhance the filter's ability to capture and kill infectious agents and fungi, including toxic mold.

"Previously, this technology was only used in aerospace and automotive applications. Now, with the help of Chelsea Group, we are expanding its applications to meet a variety of indoor air quality needs," said Ron Rohrbach, lead scientist with Honeywell.

This technology also has broad applications to boost the durability of carpets and other textiles, according to George Benda, chairman and CEO of the Chelsea Group, Ltd.
