Southern TIle Distributors Inc., with warehouses in both Norfolk and Richmond, will celebrate 50 years of service Aug. 16 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel, to be attended by employees, family, retirees, invited vendors and friends.

Founded in 1953 by E. Marvin Slaughter, the company serves floorcovering retailers, home centers, commercial flooring contractors and interior designers in Virginia and North Carolina as a distributor of flooring products in sheet vinyl, hardwood, laminates, VCT, carpet, underlayment and installation accessories.

Family owned and operated, the company employs 50 people among two branches. Southern Tile's headquarters is located at 4590 Village Ave. in the Norfolk Industrial Park. A branch office and warehouse operates at 4815 Bethlehem Road in Richmond.
