Sears says it will quit carpet business in February

CHICAGO -- Sears, Roebuck & Co., the United States’ largest department store chain, plans to discontinue its carpet sales and installation operations in February. The move is expected to result in the elimination of 1,500 retail sales jobs at the venerable retailer.
Currently, Sears sells carpet in 560 of its branch locations.
