First-time claims for unemployment benefits dipped in the latest week, but remained above the key 400,000 level for a second straight time, the Labor Department reported today.
The Labor Department said claims dropped by 8,000 to a seasonally adjusted 403,000 in the week ended Aug. 31, the first decline since the first week of August.
