CHICAGO - During Surfaces 2001, Beaver Decorating of Reedsburg, Wis., and Zersen Flooring of Monroe, Wis., were named grand prize winners of Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based All Tile's Driveaway Sweepstakes.
The sweepstakes promotion offered 125 chances to win one of five prizes. Grand prize was a choice between a 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible, a 2001 Harley Davidson Softail Classic or a 2001 Nissan Quest Minivan. Other prizes included a first prize of $1,000 and three consolation prizes of $500 each.
Beaver Decorating chose the Harley Davidson and Zersen chose the Sebring Convertible. Winners of $1,000 first prizes were E & L Carpet Service of Chicago and South Side Floors in Peoria, Ill. Winners of $500 consolation prizes were Cloquet Interiors in Cloquet, Minn., Frye's Paint & Supply in Rapid City, S.D., Savemore Carpets in Quincy, Ill., Flooring Frenzy in Owatonna, Minn., and Our Hometown Inc. in Liberty, Ill.
Each retailer earned a chance in the drawing by making a special purchase of vinyl, carpet, cushion, ceramic, wood, or laminate flooring. The contest was closed after 125 chances had been sold. Retailer interest was so strong that a second drawing of 125 chances was started and also quickly closed with 125 chances sold.
"Qualifying Driveaway purchases were already good values, but the added bonus of possibly winning a car or cash certainly helped close sales fast," said Marc Haberman, All Tile's director of marketing. "With five prizes to be awarded out of only 125 chances, participants had a better-than-typical chance of winning something big -- especially those who made multiple Driveaway purchases. "
