A panel of ceramic tile industry leaders recently chose Mojo Stumer Associates of Roslyn, N.Y. and Michael P. Johnson Studios of Cave Creek, Ariz. as winners of the Ceramic Tiles of Italy Design Competition 2001. The Italian design awards recognize outstanding achievement by North American architects or interior designers who use Italian ceramic tile in commercial or residential installations.

Mojo Stumer Associates won an award for their work at the Equinox Health Club in New York City. The design team used Italian tile from Italgraniti and Bisazza. Michael P. Johnson Studios won an award for the use of Vaccari black porcelain tile in a residential installation.

Both winners received $10,000 and a plaque at Coverings 2001 in New Orleans. Assopiastrelle, the Association of Italian Ceramic Tile and Refractory Manfacturers, and the Italian Trade Commission sponsored the awards.
