ANAHEIM, Calif. -- In support of National Floor Covering Month, scheduled for April 2002, the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA) is implementing a multifaceted public relations program that targets key media, consumers and the industry itself.

To create excitement about National Floor Covering month among WFCA members, as well as consumers, the WFCA will conduct the Look Down For A Change National Consumer Contest. The contest will be promoted through magazines and newspapers across the country.

The competition is an online contest, to be located at the WFCA’s www.wfca.org website, that will last approximately three months. Consumers will be asked to answer questions related to floor coverings. The correct answers can be found within the new consumer component of the WFCA website. Multiple winners will be chosen. Prizes will include various types of floor coverings, including installation.

The WFCA website already logs more than 10,000 visitors per month. The upcoming cross-promotion is designed to generate more visits and greater awareness of floor covering options for the home or office.

To sustain the public relations momentum of the National Floor Covering Month promotion, the WFCA will maintain a news bureau as an ongoing outlet for press announcements, alerts and industry news to consumer and trade media. Also timed for National Floor Covering Month, a camera-ready Mat story will be released to daily and weekly newspapers to ensure media coverage in the nation’s small and medium markets.
