William Kalar Clark, the former top executive at Azrock who is credited with bringing bold innovation to the commercial flooring market, died Sept. 25 at age 85. His career at Azrock spanned 45 years beginning with a sales rep position and culminating with his ascension to chairman and CEO.

During his long and distinguished tenure in the flooring business William "Bill" Clark held a number of leadership positions in industry associations and civic groups. In addition to serving for six terms as president of the Resilient Floor Covering Institute, he was active with the American Floor Covering Association, National Association of Floor Covering Distributors, the National Home Fashions League, the International Furnishings & Design Association and the Dallas Market Center.

In 1994, Clark was inducted into the Western Floor Covering Association Hall of Fame. He has been widely praised for his ability to bring a fresh perspective to the commercial market through the use of innovative patterns and styles.

His involvement in the community included serving on the Advisory Board of the Frost Bank, the Kiwanis Club, The Texas Cavaliers, Order of the Alamo, San Antonio German Club, The Argyle, The San Antonio Country Club, Club Giraud, Pilon Club, and Revelers.
