Habitat for Humanity International announces that Detroit has been selected as a host site for the 22nd annual Jimmy Carter Work Project, June 17-24. Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn will join 3,000 volunteers in Detroit and Benton Harbor, Mich., to build houses in partnership with families in need. Habitat for Humanity Detroit will construct an estimated 30 Habitat homes in one week.
BNP Media, the parent company of National Floor Trends, has received contributions from four individuals and 12 publishers within the company's Architecture & Construction and Plumbing divisions to sponsor a Habitat for Humanity home. Forty-five volunteers from BNP Media are slated to help build the house during the week, overseen by Habitat for Humanity veterans and assisted by up to 10 other volunteers.
