Master carpenter Norm Abram of the Emmy Award-winning series This Old House visited Columbia Flooring's Danville, Va., engineered hardwood flooring plant on Nov. 24 to film a segment that will premiere on PBS Thursday, Jan. 22, in the first half of The New This Old House Hour.

Abram and the show's crew, including This Old House creator/executive producer/director Russell Morash, filmed a tour of the facility conducted by Danville plant manager John Tappan, which outlined the process of manufacturing engineered hardwood flooring. Columbia Dales Collection longstrip engineered hardwood floating floors will be installed in the This Old House "Concord Cottage" renovation.

Abram took time after the show's filming to visit with Columbia executives and employees at a plant-wide meeting, during which he answered questions, posed for photographs and signed autographs.
