Oscar's new home turns to Laticrete

Installers used Laticrete products to complete the new home of the Academy Awards at Tinseltown's new Hollywood & Highland mixed-use development.

Laticrete International Inc. products were used throughout the $615 million Hollywood & Highland entertainment and retail complex in Hollywood, Calif. The Kodak Theater inside the 50,000-square-foot space serves as the new home to the annual Academy Awards program.

Developed by Trizec Hahn Development Corp., the complex features ceramic tile, glass mosaic and terrazzo tile. Premier Tile & Marble of Alhambra, Calif. used Laticrete 9235 Waterproof Membrane, 73 Crete Admix, 253 Multipurpose Thin-Set Mortar, and eight colors of the company's grout to install the materials.

McCarthy Building Companies Inc. was the general contractor. The Hollywood & Highland project took more than three years to complete.
