Atlanta retailer tapped to lead WFCA; new exective committee, board elected

Wendell E. Prescott Jr. has been elected president of the board of directors of the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA). Prescott, of Atlanta-based Bell Carpet Galleries, takes the reins from Tom Jennings of Bud Jennings Carpet One in Lawrence, Kan. Jennings automatically becomes chairman of the board, replacing Alan Delahunty of Floor Covering by Certified in Salt Lake City.

Also elected were: David C. Alton, DCA Enterprises, Portola Hills, Calif., as president-elect; Bob Ellis, GCO Carpet Outlet, Jacksonville, Fla., as corporate secretary; Aaron J. Pimer, CAP Carpet Inc., Wichita, Kan., as chief financial officer; Tom Hadinger, Hadinger Carpet, Naples, Fla., and Donny Phillips, Atlanta Flooring Design Center, Duluth, Ga., as vice presidents. D. Christopher Davis continues as chief executive officer.

First-time members of the board are: Ann Helms, Fogel’s Carpet & Vinyl, Augusta, Ga.; Kraig Lundeberg, Custom Floors, Salt Lake City; Jeri Pischke, Home Valu Interiors, Fridley, Minn.; Tom Sfero, Abbey Flooring System, Hermitage, Pa.; Terry Weber, Watson Carpet, Cleveland; and Paul Vartanian, GCO Carpet Outlet, Providence, R.I. Filling unexpected vacancies are first-time directors Fred Schmidt, Century Tile & Carpet, Lombard, Ill. (two-year term); and Paul Lagemann, Lagemann Carpet, Fort Wayne, Ind. (one-year term).

Those re-elected to three-year terms include: George Fern, J.R. Harris Jr., Bob Hill, Rene Poilet, Buddy Waters, and Wendell E. Prescott Jr.
